Future Coaches Academy

The Minority Coaches Association of Georgia “Future” Coaches Academy is an educational forum where individuals who have recently completed their college degree or new to the profession, and have a desire to enter the high school coaching profession, will learn about and explore coaching careers with a primary focus on high school athletics. By achieving the following objectives, the academy is educating participants on the various aspects of securing, managing and excelling as a coach at the high school level.
Requirement: Entry – 3 years of coaching experience
Application:
The selection process will be competitive as only a total of ten coaches will be selected to participate in the academy. Applicants will be asked to submit a resume and personal statement. In the personal statement, applicants need to ensure they discuss, in detail, the following:

Program Objectives:
The goal of the Academy is to assist with career advancement, networking and exposure opportunities, and to raise awareness regarding the substantial pool of talented and qualified coaching candidates.

- What is your philosophy for developing your student-athletes to ensure these young men or women are prepared for life once their athletic career ends?
Program Objectives:
- Participants will consider how their personal values intersect with coaching opportunities.
- Participants will better understand how behavioral styles impact individual effectiveness as a coach.
- Participants will be provided with information on personal growth and development within entry level coaching positions.
- Participants will learn a realistic view of the role of an entry level coach in high school athletics.
- Participants will examine the viability of pursuing a career as a high school coach.
- Participants will network with coaching professionals from GHSA member institutions.
